Uchi vs. Uchi: Central Texas Uchi Files Suit Against South Texas Uchi
Enso, Ltd, doing business as Uchi restaurants, from Austin's own James Beard Award-winning chef and owner, Tyson Cole, has filed a lawsuit claiming trademark infringement against a chain of Japanese and sushi restaurants in South Texas, also named Uchi. The Shutter: Has The Curtain Fallen On South Austin's Romeo's?
South Austin Italian joint Romeo's appears to have closed, though it's unclear whether the situation is permanent. Austin360 reports seeing a lock-out notice with "business closed down" scrawled on an accompanying letter tacked to the front door, but the restaurant advised folks in a February 16th Facebook post that they would be closed while they're "updating the electrical wiring in our 100 year building," and re-opening at the weekend.... |

Parkside's Shawn Cirkiel announced plans for a new Italian venture back on October, and today Olive & June opens to the public in Bryker Woods. The people have spoken--a lot, if the comments on our finals post are any indication--and deemed Kurt "The Irish Chef" Ramborger the hottest chef in Austin. This ginger fireball beat out Asti Trattoria's Kenzie Allen and 31 other chefs for the title. He'll now go on to face other sexy kitchenmeisters from across the Eater universe for the title of Hottest Chef in the Country.... |
